PRIME Minster David Cameron was forced to cut short his annual Cornish holiday this week to oversee contingency plans for military action in response to the suspected chemical weapons attack in Syria.
He and his family mingled with the crowds during their stay in North Cornwall, and were spotted at Polzeath beach throughout last week. On Sunday they were in Port Isaac, where the PM supported the local RNLI station by buying raffle tickets – but failed to pick the lucky numbers and left empty-handed.
Port Isaac RNLI chairman Bob Bulgin said: "We were holding the very popular attraction at Port Isaac Lifeboat Larks event and Mr Cameron was relaxing with his daughter, Florence Rose.
"He purchased two strips of raffle tickets in support of the Port Isaac RNLI from Councillor Andy Penny.
"Unfortunately, they were not the lucky numbers, but it gave him the opportunity to express his interest and support of our station's lifeboat service and he complimented both crew and committee on a well-run event."
The Camerons arrived in Cornwall last Tuesday, staying near Padstow at a property owned by George Hollingbery, the Tory MP for Meon Valley, Hampshire.
