A COMMUNITY arts project will be launched in Hayle to help bring some colour to the winter carnival.

Run by non-profit company, Tough Dough, the project focuses on the theme of Cornish food.

The Second Bite Trail, which is launched on Saturday, December 7, will see different groups work together to produce artwork which will be displayed at 12 different venues on the town's high street.

Local businesses, artists and schools are involved in the project creating knitted fruit, woolly bees and Christmas tree decorations.

Images of the artwork will be displayed on cards around the town with a list of venues where the items are located.

Lizzie Black, from Tough Dough, said: "Tough Dough's ambition is to stimulate the local economy by increasing awareness and enthusiasm for Cornish food and produce through creative activities. Town centres will benefit from increased activity as shoppers look for the artwork created for the shops, cafés and venues such as libraries."

Tough Dough recently received funding from Grants for Arts, FEAST Cornwall and the council to deliver the project.

Similar projects are set to take place next year in Camborne and St Austell.
