The completion of a new pedestrian crossing on Church Road in Pool marks the start of a major regeneration scheme creating 130 new homes and business space in the area.

Principal at Pool Academy, Zelma Hill, welcomed the crossing saying: "I am really pleased about the new crossing on Church Road. The school and the local community have campaigned for many years to improve the safety for pedestrians and cyclists on the roads around the school."
Paul Britton, HCA area manager added: "This is the first stage of what will be a major development for Pool, in an area where we have already supported significant regeneration activity take place.
"The site has been actively marketed in recent months and we've selected our development partner to redevelop this key site. We will work with local partners to bring forward these plans to deliver new homes and jobs for the local community."
Persimmon Homes has been selected as the developer partner for the scheme and will start consulting local people on the plans for the scheme next year.
Richard Williams, Director of Infrastructure at Persimmon Homes, said: "This marks an important next step in creating high quality homes in the area and we're excited to be involved in such an important project that will link with the Pool Innovation Centre and nearby Heartlands."
