AFTER many months of preparation, more than 100 riders are expected to take part in the annual Penwith Peninsula Sponsored Cycle Ride on Sunday.

Organised by a committee of four, this will be the third year the Rotary Club of Mount's Bay has run the event on behalf of Cancer Research UK.

A spokesman said: "In the past the event has attracted about 150 riders, however, it is hoped this number will be surpassed this year and the amount of sponsorship raised will be increased.

"The 20 and 40-mile routes are unchanged but we have tried to make the shorter five-miler more interesting."

The ride starts at 10.30am, with registration from 9am, at Sail Loft grounds.

An addition this year is the inclusion of The Little Wonder Caravan/Café, which will be positioned at the start and finish adjacent to the Marazion station car park.

There will be rest/refreshment points at St Buryan and Gurnard's Head where chocolate biscuits, bananas and water will be made available.
