COMMUNITY firefighters cordoned off a busy street in St Ives as they donned breathing apparatus to tackle a fire on Saturday.
Two fire engines from St Ives were called out at 5.50pm to a fire in a first-floor kitchen in the busy tourist area of the town.
Onlookers were moved out of the area as smoke billowed into St Andrew's Street.
The firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, which is being treated as accidental. They were on the scene for more than an hour.
