FIRE CREWS feared explosives could be set off after fire swept through a storage shed in Millbrook on Wednesday night last week.
Firefighters from Torpoint and Saltash were called to the boat storage and chandlery shed at around 8.40pm.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service group manager Antony Barrett told the Cornish Guardian that they had been given reports that explosives were stored in the facility.
"There were some concerns about explosives in the building but this was proved not to be the case," he said.
"There were some redundant flares that had gone off but this was not a big concern for us."
He said they were unsure how the blaze started at the building, on Lower Anderton Road, that had no electricity supply.
Crews left the scene at around 2.30am.
