POLICE in St Ives are appealing for information after two gold necklaces were stolen during an opportunist burglary in the town's Trewyn Flats.

Work was being carried out on the flat that involved the door being left open and it is believed thieves stole in and took the necklaces then.

One necklace, in 18 carat gold, is described as being approximately 18-20in long, with a large heavy gold locket, which has a diamond in the middle.

A second necklace is of old gold and is 18in long, with four 1cm coral balls leading to a large coral pendant.

The older necklace has discolouration on the reverse side which makes it distinctive.

They were taken between July 4 and July 11.

Call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, crime number AI/13/505.
