THE ST Ives lifeboat launched to assist a fishing boat that had called for assistance after problems with her steering gear.
Mersey Class lifeboat the Princess Royal - due to be replaced next year by the new state-of-the-art Shannon class boat - launched in clear skies and calm seas on Thursday.
Under the direction of Falmouth Coastguard she located the Fowey registered Silvery Sea five miles north of the Stones, north of Godrevy Lighthouse.
The fishing boat was taken under tow and taken back to St Ives harbour.
