MEMBERS and descendants of the Curnow family from all over the world gathered in west Cornwall this weekend.

Howard Curnow, of St Hilary, organised a reunion of people from the international Cornish diaspora – which saw around 140 family members from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, South Africa and America, Cuba, Europe and the United Kingdom come together.

Mr Curnow said: "On Sunday we had a big communal service and, after a pasty lunch, we had two of the past grand bards of the Cornish Gorsedd talking in and explaining Cornish.

"Then we had a four course banquet and the food was expertly produced by the Collins farming family of Marazion."

Sandra Cousins, whose daughter Mercedes Curnow died in 2011 of cervical cancer, also came to the reunion.

The meal was followed by entertainment from Breage crooner Jack Curnow and 15-year-old musician Jamie Cripps.
