A seagull with a fish hook in its mouth became entangled in power lines above a main road.
Firefighters used their expertise to rescue the seagull caught up in the electricity cables above the A390 in Tresillian.
Western Power Distribution had to cut the electricity supply for 30 minutes to enable the rescue to take place.
A spokesman for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "The bird had a fish hook and fishing line in its mouth which became entangled in the electricity cable.
"Firefighters rescued the bird and passed it to the care of the RSCPA, who were also on the scene."
Firefighters were already in the area on a training exercise with the aerial platform ladder.
The seagull was clearly in great distress but the fire crew managed to use a net to capture the bird and cut the wire.
The RSPCA was on the scene and removed the fish hook from the bird's mouth before taking it away to be checked over.
