Detectives are carrying out an arson investigation after a 12-storey block of flats were set alight in Cornwall in an apparent arson attack. Firefighters were called to Park House, Bridge Road, St Austell late on Thursday night. Three fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were sent after residents reported the smell of burning on the top floor. According to fire chiefs, someone had deliberately set a mound of paper in the rubbish chute ablaze and police were investigating. No-one was injured and the fire was extinguished before the emergenncy services arrived.
