Fire crews tackled a blaze which gutted a bungalow at Manwood in Manaton, Devon, yesterday. Four fire engines attended the scene following the call-out just after 10am. On arrival, the crews from Mortonhampstead, Bovey Tracey, Chagford and Ashburton found a bungalow with a slate roof which was well alight. The extent of the fire in the detached building prompted them to call a water bowser in from Torquay. The wooden building, about 20 metres square was severely damaged by the blaze. Fire crews had extinguished the fire by 3pm but remained at the scene.
