Rock star to raise money for stroke appeal

Queen drummer Roger Taylor has signed five special edition CDs in aid of Cornwall's Phoenix Stroke Appeal.

Rock star Mr Taylor, who grew up in Truro and has a home in Cornwall, did the favour for the charity's chairman Rik Evans.

The CDs, which are being auctioned one-by-one on eBay until mid-December, will, it is hoped, raise hundreds of pounds for the Cornish charity.

"Roger and I are old friends," said Rik, who agreed to chair the £500,000 appeal after learning first hand how stroke affects families.

"We hope these great CDs will make a lot for our charity, and provide lots of stroke equipment for people in Cornwall."

The Phoenix Stroke Appeal aims to raise £500,000 to improve stroke services Cornwall. The money will be shared between the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Truro and the community hospitals at Bodmin and Camborne/Redruth.

Its hoped the CDs will raise abound £100 each.
