AFTER a storming gig at Falmouth's Princess Pavilion in 2011, one of the nation's favourite musical characters, Adam Ant, returns to the venue on Sunday, April 13, 2014.
After his recent sell-out show at London's Roundhouse and a successful 44-date tour of the USA, Adam has decided to embark on a 13-date UK tour next spring.
The tour is titled XII BD (12 dates before Dirk) where Adam will be performing select songs from the Ants' seminal album Dirk Wears White Sox, as well as other favourites.
The first 12 dates lead up to a gig at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on April 20 where, for one night only, Adam will be performing the entire Dirk Wears White Sox Album.
What's On editor Lee Trewhela said: "I've made no secret of my love of Adam and the Ants over the years – it was Adam who unleashed a lifelong passion for music in me, so he'll always hold a special place in my heart.
"I remember when I was 10 I cried when I first heard the Dirk Wears White Sox album! It was so strange to my fledgling ears and a million miles from Dog Eat Dog; I thought I'd wasted my £3.99 pocket money.
"However, over the years I've realised its eccentric tales of domestic lives askew, meeting God on tour, having dinner with Hitler and Kennedy's assassination made it one of the best, if overlooked, debut albums in British rock history.
"Most Ant fans now consider it to be his best work and many bands have cited Dirk as an influence, notably Blur, so it will be an absolute joy to see its songs performed in Falmouth again."
Adam first performed in Cornwall at the much-missed Coliseum in 1981 (four times throughout the year), but it was another 30 years before his return. As well as the 2011 Pavilion date, Adam played Truro's Hall For Cornwall earlier this year while promoting his Blueblack Hussar album.
Tickets are £25 in advance from the box office on 01326 211222.
He also plays Exeter's Lemon Grove on April 9 and Yeovil's Westlands on April 12.
