A horse was trapped in a bog in Budock Water for several hours before being rescued by firefighters in the early hours of this morning.
The alarm was raised after the owner discovered the distressed animal at around 11pm yesterday evening.
Falmouth firefighters used shovels, sand lances and ropes to release the animal during what Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service described as a "difficult" three hour rescue operation.
A vet was called to the scene to assist during the rescue and treat the animal.
