Community devastated after death in street

A 57-year-old man whose death in the early of hours of Saturday morning led to the arrest of four people on suspicion of murder was a "valued" community member who will be "greatly missed".

Tributes poured in for Colin Palmer, a keen euchre player and stock car enthusiast who worked as a loading driver, following his death in a street in Biscovey, Par.

Shortly following the death of the 57-year-old, who was a treasured as a regular down his local pub and lived near where he was found, four people were arrested on suspicion of murder.

The three men aged 21, 19 and 18 years old and a 16-year-old boy, were all taken immediately into police custody but released on bail yesterday until November pending further police investigations.

Flowers were laid near to where Mr Palmer was discovered and treated by emergency services on Saturday morning.

There was also an outpouring of emotion on social networking sites.

Glyn Price, landlord of The Carlyon Arms, said he would be greatly missed.

He said: "He was an inoffensive man, who was a complete pacifist.

"All the regulars are completely devastated."
