Work from two world-renowned artists – legends in their respective fields – will feature in an auction in Plymouth next month.

Pictures by American music giant Bob Dylan and British artist Damien Hirst are among the star lots at the Plymouth Auction Rooms Quarterly Art Sale on September 18, starting at 6pm.

The sale, which represents a rare opportunity to buy modern British dynamic art at auction, features work by Sir Peter Blake, the man behind The Beatles' iconic Sgt Pepper album cover, Elisabeth Frink, Paula Rego and St Ives artist Kurt Jackson.

The signed Dylan giclee Woman In Red Lion Pub circa 2011 is published by Washington Green and is from the Drawn Blank series. The 53cm x 41cm work is estimated to sell for £1,500-£2,000, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Damien Hirst, who has already made waves in the South West with his 66ft bronze-clad sculpture Verity in Ilfracombe, features with a signed, limited-edition print The Dead-Racing Green/Island Copper Skull 2009, estimated at £3,500-£4,000.

Sir Peter Blake's signed limited-edition print Madonna On A Venus Beach 2 is estimated at £500-£700; Elisabeth Frink's etching circa 1972 Chaucer's Tale Of Sir Topaz is estimated at £1,400-£1,600; while Paula Rego's signed limited edition print The Unicorn Artist is estimated at £1,700-£2,000. Kurt Jackson's signed acrylic Bridge of Frew, Magpie Chatter, April 2010 comes with provenance from the Lemon Street Gallery in Cornwall.

Auctioneer and valuer Paul Keen said: "This is a fantastic and rare opportunity to acquire works from some of the best contemporary artists."
