Bumper crowds digging deep into their pockets helped make a picturesque Cornish village's annual Lifeboat Day a record breaker.
The event at Coverack on the Lizard peninsula on Saturday saw a crew from RNAS Culdrose, near Helston, perform a daring air-sea rescue while RNLI lifeguards also showcased their skills.
At the end of the day, an impressive £3,770 had been raised to support the vital work of the RNLI – £450 more than last year. A total of £720 was raised from the sale of RNLI souvenirs alone.
Peter Barker, one of the organisers, said it had been a hugely enjoyable day.
"Everyone seemed to have a really good time. There were a few rain showers but that didn't deter the crowds."
