TWO TALENTED dancers are looking for volunteers to take part in a charity production to raise money for disadvantaged children.
Ella and Charlotte Gilling, 15 and 21, ran a series of dance classes last year in the lead-up to a performance at The Acorn theatre in Penzance, and are doing the same again this month due to its success.
Ella, currently studying at specialist theatre arts school the Italia Conti Academy, and her sister Charlotte, a dance student at the University of East London, are calling for locals to get involved in the showpiece for a second round of fundraising moves.
After seeing about £750 collected for organisations Save the Children and Chicks last summer, Ella said: "This time we have more people and we hope to try to make it bigger – so it could be an ongoing thing."
She felt strongly about helping those less fortunate than herself, and thought putting on a fun dance production was the perfect way to do so.
She added: "If I watch things on TV it makes me cry – but I know that I'm doing something like this it makes me feel a bit better.
"Not all of us are greedy."
The pair set a target of about £1,000 to give to the children's charities.
The pair will be hosting a number of dance workshops, open to all, starting on August 12 at the local YMCA.
After five days of practice there is an opportunity to take part in the production at The Acorn on the following weekend, which will feature simple and more complex routines as well as music and song.
Ella explained that not all the dances were serious, and ultimately the event was supposed to be accessible and fun.
"We like to do a fun number and get everyone involved," she said. "It's about having a good time."
