HIGH winds on Sunday afternoon did not put Mount's Bay Sailing Club off course as it celebrated 75 years of history.

The first of many celebrations was the Regatta Day, which kicked off from Marazion at 11am, with 22 boats taking part in three races across the bay.

Club commodore Paul Broomfield hoped to get 75 people on the water to celebrate each year the club has been going, but ended up with closer to 50.

He said: "Wind postponed it a little bit, but it went pretty well and was well attended. Sailors came from up country."

Races continued throughout the afternoon when the winds had significantly died down.

Members who attended the regatta were invited to enjoy a barbecue and live music on the balcony of the clubhouse.

A prizegiving ceremony was held in the evening to reward the winners, with club member Ian Roxburgh presenting.

Overall results:

Handicap: 1, Stuart Backhouse (Contender); 2, Malcolm Woolcock/Gemma Woolcock/Tom (RS Vision); 3, Pippa Baker/Cie Royale (RS 200).

Lasers: 1, John Woolcock; 2, Denzil May; 3, Bruce Adams.

Lasers 2.7: 1, Kian Andrews; 2, Eden Backhouse.

Mirrors: 1, Jeremy Stephens/Lauren Stephens; 2, Becca Stephens/Nimh O'Neil; 3, Rob Bode/Jess Jago.
