Princess Theatre, Torquay, July 5

Welsh National Opera has committed to three years of performances in Torbay after the council secured Arts Council funding. It means the WNO will perform large scale concerts, chamber concerts, run workshops, masterclasses and other events for schools and communities.

To celebrate, there's a concert of operatic highlights at the Princess Theatre, Torquay, next Friday – A Tenor For A Tenner.

Tenor Gwyn Hughes Jones, pictured, and Soprano Naomi Harvey will present an evening of operatic favourites including Verdi's La Traviata and Rigoletto, Puccini's Tosca and La Boheme as well as the iconic Nessun Dorma from Turandot and Carmen by Bizet.

There will also be a WNO chamber concert in the Spanish Barn, Torre Abbey on Thursday.
