The Art Fund charity will benefit from Somerset valuation weeks being organised by Duke's Auctioneers. There will be visits to Somerset by Asian works of art specialist Andrew Marlborough (July 8-12) and jewellery specialist Amy Brenan (July 22-26) to see clients who think they may have something special.
The auction markets for both Chinese works of art and fine jewellery have improved considerably in the past few years and Duke's have seen exceptional prices. This diamond and natural pearl necklace, pictured, from a client in West Dorset, sold for more than double its auction estimate at £26,290 demonstrating the strength of the market for high-quality pieces.
The Art Fund, a charity dedicated to supporting museums and galleries by helping them to secure and maintain important collections for the nation, will receive a percentage of Duke's commission from any item consigned as a result of the Somerset Valuation Week.
