Firefighters rescued a dog from a house in Devon after a fire involving a cooker and tea towel broke out. Two crews from Newton Abbot were called to Manor Road in the town at 10.15am on Saturday. They found a kitchen fire on the ground floor involving a tea towel and an electric cooker. Crews using breathing apparatus rescued a dog from the property and then used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said the cause of the blaze was accidental.
