A smoke alarm fitted by firefighters alerted two people to a fire in their North Cornwall home in the early hours of yesterday. Firefighters from Launceston were sent to the incident in Lanstephan shortly after 5am following a call from the owner saying they had been awoken by the alarm and the property was full of smoke. The two occupants were treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics. "Fortunately the occupant of this property had working smoke detectors in the house which raised the alarm to the fire whilst they were sleeping," a fire service spokesman said.
