Penzance and Falmouth, Monday and Tuesday
A film charting the lives of a group of artists in Lamorna in the run-up to the First World War has two exclusive pre-release premieres in Cornwall next week. Summer In February – a screen adaptation of Jonathan Smith's 1995 novel – is to be screened at the Savoy Cinema in Penzance on Monday and at The Poly in Falmouth on Tuesday, ahead of the official UK release on June 14.
Directed by Christopher Menaul and starring Dan Stevens, Dominic Cooper and Emily Browning, Summer In February focuses on a bohemian group of artists dominated by the charismatic Alfred Munnings, and a complex love triangle involving aspiring young painter Florence Carter-Wood and Gilbert Evans – the land agent in charge of the Lamorna estate whose real diaries inspired the story.
