Four people were cut off by the tide in Devon and had to be rescued by helicopter. Coastguards were alerted to the plight of the quartet, said to be "foreign", who had become stranded at Sillery Sands, near Lynmouth, just before 4pm on Sunday. The Ilfracombe inshore lifeboat, Lynmouth coastguard and RAF Chivenor were all tasked with the rescue. Swansea coastguards confirmed the four people were of a foreign origin and were unaware of the local tidal conditions.
