at Twickenham
The look on Cornwall rugby captain Ben Hilton's face says it all.
Despite giving everything in the Bill Beaumont Cup against Lancashire at Twickenham yesterday the Cornish boys' efforts were not quite enough to secure victory.
But the reassuring hand on the shoulder from one of the 10,000 Cornish fans who made the long trek up from the Duchy, speaks volumes too.
Because there were no hard feelings among the fiercely competitive supporters whose team last secured victory in rugby's county championship in 1999 and had high hopes that in 2013 the current squad were due to repeat the magnificent feat. In the end, however, it was not to be. After a closely fought match Lancashire came out the winners, 35-26.
No fans shout louder than Cornwall's and Trewlawny's Army didn't let the long journey to the headquarters of rugby dull their enthusiastic support for the team.
Veteran Cornish rugby commentator Bill Hooper summed it up. "It was a tremendous effort," he said. "All credit to the boys."
