A YACHT, which was trapped on rocks near the entrance to Penzance harbour this morning, was helped free by lifeboat and coastguard teams.
The yacht, Astra, which made a call for assistance at 11.50am, was towed to safety by a Penlee Lifeboat ILB after getting caught out by the low tide.
It had got trapped on the rocks entering Penzance harbour and was stuck with waves crashing over its three crew.
The Penlee ILB, which lost an engine in the rescue, managed to establish a tow on the bow and escort it to safety.
The 30ft yacht is stil believed to be in Newlyn Harbour.Penzance coastguard also attended the incident.
