The Queen and Prince Philip will visit West Cornwall on Friday, May 17, Buckingham Palace has announced.
The royal party will arrive in the region by train at St Erth station, then join a train on the branch line to St Ives, a trip which follows the coastline and is widely hailed as one of the most scenic railway trips in the world.
When the royal party arrive in St Ives, they will be driven down to the RNLI lifeboat station at the harbour and unveil a plaque to mark their visit.
The couple will then enjoy a brief walkabout around the harbour of the picturesque seaside resort before heading to Tate St Ives overlooking Porthmeor Beach.
The Queen and Prince Philip will tour the building opened by their son in 1993 and meet architects responsible for the ambitious expansion project, as well as curators and artists.
In their last appointment of the day, the couple will be driven to Marazion where they will visit St Michael's Mount to take a private lunch with the St Aubyn family, before touring the castle and meeting families who live and work on the iconic tourist attraction.
