Redruth Operatic Society is coming home for its next production.
The company, known throughout Cornwall as RAOST, is to perform 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers' at the refurbished Regal Theatre in June.
And to add authenticity to their performances, the actors who will be playing the "brothers", recently stayed in a cottage at 7th Rise, on the Roseland, for a weekend of rural activities.
These included fishing, canoeing, fire building, wood carving, foraging and outdoor cooking.
The aim was to build "brotherly" relationships in an environment similar to the setting of the show.
Adam Nicholls, who plays eldest brother Adam said: "Most of us playing a brother had only met during rehearsals.
"Staying at 7th Rise really helped us to get to know each other and to develop brotherly relationships.
"There was much boisterous behaviour and we were all very tired afterwards, but it certainly helped us to understand what life would have been like for these men."
Anne Robertson-Ewart, RAOST's chairman, said: "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is a gloriously romantic romp, with dazzling dance routines, toe tapping music and sassy performances.
"This production is guaranteed to put a spring in your step and bring a tune to your lips.
"Bursting with the rambunctious energy of the original film, this show is all boisterous fun and romance.
"Rehearsals are progressing really well under the direction of the talented team of director Luke Keast, choreographer Melissa Glover and musical director Roger Wills."
Performances will take place from June 5-8, with a matinee on the Saturday.
Tickets will be on sale from May 1 from the Regal Theatre box office,  www.merlincinemas.co.uk or 01209 216278.
