A former police officer has appeared at Torquay Magistrates Court to face four charges of indecent exposure, one of which is alleged to have taken place in a police station.

David Salsbury, from Stoneycombe, near Kingskerswell, resigned from the police force in March, soon after he was charged with four counts of intentionally exposing his genitals intending that someone would see them.

Sonia Croft, prosecuting, said three of the alleged offences took place in shops last October and one took place at Brixham police station last June.

The shops were named as Circle 8 C Store, Newton Abbot, and the Co-op store, Kingkerswell, on the same day, and the Pets at Home store in Kingsteignton a couple of weeks later.

Mrs Croft claimed: "When he had gone to unzip his motorbike leathers he unzipped them all the way down.

"At the time, he was a police officer."

Salsbury, who did not enter a plea, was remanded on unconditional bail to return to the magistrates' court on May 29 for a committal hearing.
