Cornish speedway star Ben Barker has been banned from driving for six months after admitting two motoring offences.

Great Britain international Barker was summonsed to court over an incident in his home village of St Dennis on December 23 last year, when his Hyundai van crashed into another car.

He failed to leave his details after colliding with a Vauxhall Corsa, in Fore Street, and was also charged with careless driving and not reporting the crash.

He pleaded guilty to failing to stop after an accident and driving without due care and attention when his case was heard by magistrates sitting at Bodmin yesterday.

A third charge against Barker, formerly of the Plymouth Devils and now with the Ipswich Witches, of failing to report the accident was withdrawn.

The 25-year-old, of Maple Close, St Dennis, was disqualified from driving for six months and fined £500 for the two offences.

Magistrates also ordered him to pay a £50 victim surcharge and prosecution costs of £60.
