Plymouth Devils launch the new speedway season with home and away challenge matches against West Country rivals Somerset Rebels this weekend.
The teams meet in the first leg at the Oaktree Arena on Good Friday evening with the decider at the St Boniface Arena on Saturday evening (7.15pm).
The Rebels will have their three winter signings making their debuts with Australian riders Josh Grajczonek (from Glasgow) and Nick Morris (from Scunthorpe) providing the heat leader support for number one Jason Doyle.
At second string will be young British riders Alex Davies and Kyle Newman while Tom Perry continues at reserve where he will be joined by the third newcomer, 18-year-old Dane Stefan Nielsen.
Somerset just missed out on the Premier League title last season when they suffered a single point defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe in the championship final.
The pundits have installed the Rebels as pre-season favourites for the championship this time around and team manager Garry May says: "I have to admit that I don't like the tag of being favourites hanging around our necks.
"But I suppose it does mean that the majority of pundits think we have got our team building spot on and I would love it if we lived up to those expectations."
Either way the two meetings will provide the Devils with a good test for their new-look side.
Plymouth: Ty Proctor, Chris Schramm, Mark Lemon, Cory Gathercole, Ricky Kling. Reserves: Todd Kurtz, Ben Reade.
Exeter Select: Jason Doyle, Alex Davies, Josh Grajczonek, Kyle Newman, Nick Morris. Reserves: Tom Perry, Stefan Nielsen.
