PEOPLE are being warned to stay on their guard after two suspicious incidents in St Ives.
A man, posing as a care worker, knocked on a door in the town at around 10am this morning and asked to check an elderly woman's medication.
Police said she let him in before asking him for identification and ordering him to leave. The man then left the house through a back door claiming he would be back later with his ID.
Officers are linking the incident with another which happened around a mile away and a short time later when a man was found in a woman's hallway. After he was spotted, he quickly left the scene.
Nothing was taken during either incident and no one was injured but police are keen for residents to be alert to bogus callers.
"This type of incident is very rare in this area, however it pays to be aware and not take any risks when answering the door to strangers," said a spokesperson for the Force.
The first man was described as a black male, around 6ft tall with stocky build and short black hair. He was wearing dark clothing and a red jacket. The second was a white man with an Eastern European accent also wearing a red jacket.
Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call the police on 101 quoting log number 218 of February 26.
