Thieves smashed their way into a private, Church-run school in North Devon and stole electrical equipment valued at £22,000. Police in Bideford are appealing for information following the burglary at Shebbear College, one of a group of independent boarding schools run by the Methodist Church. Several buildings at the school, which was founded in 1829, were targeted and extensive damage caused overnight on Monday to gain entry. A police spokesman added: "Computer equipment was stolen, including laptops, notebooks, televisions and photographic items."
