A CAMBORNE charity that announced the closure of four of its five services recently has today confirmed it was exploring a partnership to save some of the services affected. Cornwall Community Volunteer Services (CCVS), which helps some of the most vulnerable people in the county, is in discussions with Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C) to explore the possibility of continuing some services. In December about 20 staff members were served redundancy notices and last week at its annual general meeting trustees officially agreed to wind up Miners Court day care centre, VisAbility, Re-Furnish South West (sofa Project) and Transport Bureau. The partnership that is now being explored is a transfer of undertakings to CN4C. A consultation on proposals will now follow with trustees, staff, volunteers and users. Chief executive Kim Gregory said: "I'm sure that everyone will appreciate that this is a sensitive time for service users and staff. "We need to concentrate our energy on ensuring continuation wherever possible so we will not be responding to any further queries at this time." And chief executive Tarn Lamb of CN4C added: "This is a difficult time for many organisations. "Charities in Cornwall need to work together in partnership to ensure that as many vital services as possible are maintained for the benefit of the local community. "
