A woman suffered serious injuries after her car struck a telegraph pole and wall on the B3227 near Torrington yesterday morning. Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene at about 8.55am after the Volkswagen Golf TDI crashed at the Watergate junction on the B3227 between Taddiport and Langtree. The driver of the car, who is believed to be in her 30s and from the Torrington area, was trapped in the car for more than 90 minutes until she was cut free by fire crews and taken to hospital. The road was closed for a number of hours as a result of the collision.
